The iron roughneck is a convenient and modularized product. The tool is used for make-up and break-out operations of drill pipes, drill collars, casings and other type couplings from 3 1/2” to 8 1/2”. No changing of crushing plate is needed. It is an upgrade product. This product suits for hot or cool environment, onshore or offshore locations.

The iron roughneck can be remote controlled. It is designed and manufactured according to API Spec 7k specifications.

The spinner clamp and torque clamp of the iron roughneck are separated. The spinner clamp only has forward and reverse cupboard button; the torque clamp only has fastened button and punching button. The maximum angle of rotation of the torque clamp is 30°; thus it can realize the PLC program control. The iron roughneck needs only one operator to satisfy the automatic operation of mounting and unloading the drilling pipe during oil drilling.

The iron roughneck can be operated with top drive to achieve better performance and realize the unmanned operation.

The Iron Roughneck has seven movements, which are fore-and-aft movement, forward and reverse rotation of the spinner clamp, fastening and loosening of spinner clamp, fastening and loosening of lower clamp crushing plate, fastening and loosening of the upper clamp crushing plate, loading and unloading clamp of the main clamp (upper and lower clamp), elevation and declining of the clamp; it takes seven steps to finish one cycle of clamp loading or unloading to the drilling pipe (or drill collar). Thus the Iron Roughneck has the mechanical structure of seven main movements.
